Route Nr. 10: to the Schober

description:

  Starting at the lake-side promenade you walk towards the Waldhof Hotel where you take the path to the right leading up to the Waldhof Alm. From here you continue to the Schlössl mountain restaurant and then follow the sign posts to the Frauenkopf and Schober peaks. It will take you about 1 1/4 hour from the Schlössl mountain restaurant  to the Frauenkopf and Schober peaks. Altitude difference covered is 380m.  The round walk from the mountain restaurant Schlössl via the Wartenfel Fortress ruins to the Schober & Frauenkopf peak takes about 2 1/2 hours, difference in altitude covered 400m. You can drive to the Schlössl mountain restaurant and the walk from the restaurant to the ruins takes about 20 minutes covering a difference in altitude of 100m.  The walk from the ruins to the Schober Peak takes about 1 hour, covering an altitude difference of 300m. You can then carry on to the Frauenkopf peak via the Schoberhütte (mountain refuge hut). For experience hikers only!

 

Route Nr. 13 Eibensee - Ellmaustein round-walk

description:

  Going out of Fuschl am See on the Wolfgangseebundesstraße (main road to St. Gilgen) you will find the turn off to the - Eibenseeweg (Eibensee route). The walk takes you through wild moors, meadows and forests and along the Eibensee stream until you reach the mountain lake Eibensee. You can take the forest track around the Marienköpfl peak to the small shrine or take route 13 to the north-east of Eibensee Lake, which is a more difficult route, to the shrine. The shrine lies on the same main road somewhat closer to St. Gilgen than the start of the walk, it is here that you cross the main road following the path to the Ellmausteinkamm - first following the forest track which takes you to the Ellmau Valley road. From here you can follow the road back into the village or take the mountain path up to the Ellmausteinpeak, returning back to the Ellmau Valley road on the same path. This walk is also a designated route for runners and Nordic walkers.

From Fuschl to the Eibensee Lake and back, duration: 3 hours, length 10 km, altitude difference covered: 260 m.

Route Nr. 20: Village round-walk  - Fuschl am See (Rundweg)

description:
Leaving the hotel you walk along the lake-side promenade to the Hotel Waldhof where the path leads up to the right just after the hotel. The path will take you along the "Schoberweg" and to the first fork in the path where you bear right following the "Hochfeld" path through the woods opening out to give you a lovely view of the village and the lake. Walk through the village and pick up the Ellmau Valley road (at the fire station) at the foot of the Ellmaustein peak. Follow the road into the valley turning left onto the path leading to the Old Ruming Mill. Follow the signs to the Ruming Mill and the path will take you back into the village via the underpass, coming out just behind the church.  
 

Route Nr. 22: Bambichl round-walk

Take the underpass under the main road behind the church and follow the "Mühlreitweg" to the Steinbachstraße, a small road which you must cross to pick up the Bambichl route to the right, taking you past a deer enclosure to the Old Ruming Mill. After the mill you continue to the Bambichl Farm and then through the woods back to the main road (at the red bull building sight). Cross the main road and take the path through the camp sight back to the hotel.
 

Route Nr. 30: Round the Lake Walk - "Fuschlseeweg"

description:

This is a lovely walk which will take you around the entire lake, most of the time close to the shore. At the other end of the lake at Schloss Fuschl the path veers away from the lake taking you over the mouth of the Fuschler Ache stream, a few hundred metres along a small road, past the restaurant where refreshments can be bought and then back through the woods to the shores of Lake Fuschl.


Possible in both directions, starting at the hotel you walk to the pay beach and through  the camp sight up to the main road, a few metres along the main road then down into the Au Strasse and after approx. 100 metres the "Seeweg" path leads down to the right for the start of the round the lake walk. Coming out after about 3 hours at the Hotel Seewinkel and the hotel's private beach, along the lake-side promenade and back to the hotel.
